Tissue Distraction Release with Movement
Using soft silicone cups, theraputic cupping relies on negative pressure to decompress soft tissue (skin, fat, facia, tendons and muscles) to alleviate tension and stiffness. Its main mechanism is a novel neurophysiological response: when a new stimulus feels alleviating and positive, the brain relaxes the tissue in the painful spot.
Therapeutic Cupping is appropriate for most soft tissue areas including low back, upper shoulders, IT bands, as well as other conditions like post-opertaive knee replacements. This type of cupping is usually shorter in duration (3-10 minutes). Active movement around relevant joints can be combined with cupping to further enhance the therapeutic response.
