SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Provide by all our chiropractors and physiotherapists

Shockwave is most commonly used for chronic tendonitis conditions where treatment by other modalities has been unsuccessful. This technique uses high amplitude pulses of mechanical energy, similar to sound waves, to encourage faster healing and reduce pain.

Shockwaves create micro-stimulation in damaged tissue to trigger the body's inflammatory pathways. The natural progression of wound healing mechanisms then creates new blood vessels and nerve cells. A similar technique can be done in less than ten minutes with our chiropractors and physiotherapists.

DRY NEEDLING/IMS

Offered by Dr. Jespersen and our Physiotherapists

The two most common types of dry needling done at our clinic are:

Intra-Muscular Stimulation (IMS): This type of acupuncture relies on the palpation of trigger points in muscular tissues. Using an acupuncture needle, the therapist releases tension from muscles by eliciting a twitch response from a dysfunctional muscle. This controlled twitch response allows the regulatory nerve endings in the muscle called muscle spindles, to reset. Doing so improves the flexibility and strength of contraction in the affected tissue. Using this treatment combined with manual therapy interventions is a very effective method for improving pain control and facilitating active rehabilitation.

Contemporary Medical Acupuncture: This is a precise peripheral nerve stimulation technique used to put the body's natural mechanism of healing into action.

The scientific benefits of contemporary medical acupuncture include:

  • Pain relief

  • Inflammation reduction

  • Improved blood flow

  • Improved nerve co
